Romantic Evening at Jade 36

Weather: Clear (but wish it was Sunnier)
Mood: Wonderfully Happy

Last night, I went on a candle-light dinner date with my hubby at a glam dining destination – Jade on 36 Restaurant located in Pudong Shangri-la. As it planned out, it was a wonderful night of dining, wining and great chats. Upon arrival at the restaurant, I was already much impressed with the romantic ambiance and sophisticated decoration. :)

During reservation, I requested for a table with a view. Therefore on arrival, we were led to be seated at a table just next to the window. Therefore, we were dazzled with stunning panoramic views of the famous Bund. And with the soft music and lighting in the restaurant, this is indeed an idealistic dating place for couples. :)

(Note: The table on the extreme top right in the above *picture* was where we were seated.)

Probably the owner of the restaurant would like us to be absolutely relax without exercising our brain too much, thus the dishes are categorized in set menus, which range of large meals of 8 dishes, and small meals of 5 dishes. Together with my hubby and me was another couple, friends of my hubby. Incidentally, all of us picked various choices of the small meal. I asked my hubby why he didn't choose the larger set meal and he replied that he was afraid he couldn't get used to the international taste. :P

For me, I must say I was happy with the choice I made. Except for the first course, foie gras, which the taste I could not get accustomed to, I enjoyed all the rest of my food. I was especially delighted with 2 of them - Jumbo Shrimp and Beef Short Rib in Japanese Teriyaki, which are both signature dish of the restaurant.

The Jumbo Shrimp, was a large prawn being presented on a skewer inside a large jar to preserve the flavor whilst cooking. And in the jar were unusual aromatic sauce, combining orange peel and juice, coriander and bay leaf, which gave the prawn a citrus yet pleasant taste.

As for Beef Short Rib, it was cooked in Japanese Teriyaki sauce to perfect tenderness, and then being served with creamy mashed potato and greens. (as shown in *picture* below)

The cost of dining here is pricey, averaging 750RMB per person for our dinner last night. However, given the ambience, the attentive service and the delicious food, I really do not mind coming back again, if someone else is paying. ;)
